How to convert your GPA for GKS
GKS reads only five grading scales — 4.0, 4.3, 4.5, 5.0, and 100-point. If your transcript uses another scale, you don't convert it yourself. Here's exactly what to submit.
GKS accepts only five grading scales
On the official GKS application your CGPA has to be on the 4.0, 4.3, 4.5, or 5.0 scale, or a 100-point percentage. GKS publishes no conversion formula for any other scale, so if your transcript uses a different one, GKS asks your university — not you — to convert and certify the figure.
- Accepted as-is
- 4.0, 4.3, 4.5, 5.0, and 100-point (percentage). These are read directly — 80 out of 100 is the baseline.
- Any other scale
- Converted to an accepted scale and certified by your university, then submitted as an authenticated supplementary document. Never self-converted.
My CGPA is out of 10 (like in India) — how do I convert it for GKS?
A 10-point CGPA is not one of the five accepted GKS scales, and GKS publishes no 10-point conversion formula. Don't convert it yourself. Ask your university to convert it to an accepted scale (or to a 100-point percentage) and to certify that figure, then submit it as a supplementary document with the university's authentication. If your transcript also shows a percentage, use the 100-point route — 80% is the GKS baseline.
My transcript is a percentage or out of 100 — is that accepted?
Yes. A 100-point percentage is one of the five accepted GKS scales, so it is read directly, with no conversion needed. The GKS academic baseline is 80 out of 100. Enter the percentage exactly as your transcript certifies it.
My transcript has no GPA or CGPA number — what do I submit?
Submit an official document from your university describing its grading system, or a class-rank certificate. GKS counts a class rank in the top 20% of your cohort as meeting the academic baseline, so a rank certificate can stand in when there is no GPA figure to convert.
Is a Scholaro or WES evaluation accepted for GKS?
What GKS asks for is your university's certified conversion, submitted as an authenticated supplementary document — not a third-party evaluation on its own. A service such as WES or Scholaro only helps if your own university then certifies the converted figure; a self-ordered evaluation without that certification does not replace it.
What do I enter in the GPA field on the GKS application form?
Enter the figure your university's registrar certifies, exactly as written on your official transcript — the CGPA on its stated scale, or the percentage. Don't recalculate it, round it, or convert it to another scale yourself; GKS reads the certified number, not an adjusted one.
Can I round my GPA up to reach the GKS baseline?
No. Report your CGPA or percentage exactly as certified. If you fall just under the baseline, the alternative is the class-rank route: a rank in the top 20% of your cohort meets the GKS academic requirement even when the GPA figure itself is below the line.
